Race 4 - Napier
The race at Napier is another great spectator venue with the race course immediately out from the town marina basin. This is a real offshore event with no outlying islands for protection, so that large ocean swells make for exciting racing and viewing.
Race start: 1.00pm

Testing conditions of two metre swells and a one metre chop greeted the Formula Honda class competitors in the latest Rayglass NZ Offshore Powerboat Championship round in Napier.
Leading the Formula Honda class home and third overall in the 60-mile race was ‘Auckland District Collections #2’ driven by Mike Urquhart and Darren Woods of Whangaparaoa, a testiment to the strength of the boat and engine package in the challenging conditions.
Formula Honda class spokesperson Mike Knight, driver of second-placed ‘Building Solutions', said a navigational error on ‘Building Solutions' gave ‘Auckland District Collections #2' the advantage. "It was pretty much a two-boat race, but Taupo's Mark Morrell and Hastings' Sean Bryant were very consistent performers in ‘Altitude' to finish third."
